AB OBJECTIVE: Correlation of oral manifestations and disease progression
was of was examined. METHODS: Between 1989-1993 all Hungarian patients
(pts) with symptomatic HIV/AIDS were provided dental and oral health
care and follow up along with clinical and laboratory care. On oral
cavity examination cytology, virology, microbiology were performed
regularly in evers six months where as histology, treatment was done if
necessary. The results of 257 pts were anallsed in comparison of the
clinical and laboratory data and pts were devided into groups regarding
to their CD4+ cells counts at the moment of symptoms. Group 1:
Symptomatic HIV (CD4+ > 150), group 2: AIDS (250-50) and group 3:
advanced AIDS (< 50). RESULTS: TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME.
CONCLUSIONS: According to our data disease progression. Correleted with
the frequency and severity of oral manifestative of HIV/AIDS. Deep oral
lesions due to bacterial infections were relative common in advenced
AIDS.
